The Director of Arts and Culture will oversee all arts and cultural programming including, but not limited to, group & individual art classes, trips, holiday events, and recreational activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Conceive a robust Arts and Culture program that engages Lantern tenants and staff in exploring and contributing to New York City's rich cultural landscape
  • Engage Lantern stakeholders in developing short-and long-term strategic goals for Arts and Culture programs
  • Foster and leverage partnerships in the business, education, arts, and geographic communities to enhance Arts and Culture programming at Lantern
  • Develop and execute an annual calendar of events
  • Hire, train and monitor work of Consultant Instructors and Interns
  • Spearhead fundraising efforts (grants and in-kind donations) for Arts and Culture initiatives
  • Monitor department budget and partner with Finance to ensure all financial documentation is completed
  • Ensure supplies and space are available for classes and activities
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to Arts and Culture to ensure the safety of participants
  • Monitor agency dashboard and use data to inform programming and complete reports
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, individual supervision, and other meetings as required
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • 3+ years designing and implementing arts and culture-focused programs
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1 year of experience with evidence-based programs
  • 2 years of experience working with vulnerable populations persons living with AIDS /HIV, formerly homeless and chronically homeless persons, and families, young adults aged out of foster care, persons with mental illness, or persons in recovery from addiction.
