Job Title: Director of Employment and Education

Reports to: VP/Sr. Director of Specialty Programs and Program Evaluation

Status: Full-time, Mon - Friday

FLSA Classification: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Employment and Education is responsible for developing/improving, implementing and monitoring a comprehensive and intentional educational and training program customized for the distinct needs of Lantern's residential clients. The chief outcome for the role is to ensure sustained programmatic objectives, measured in the educational accomplishments, improved employability and employment of our clients. Successful execution of the educational and training program requires the ability to cultivate and maintain successful relationships with employers and identify placements.

To this end, the Director will closely collaborate with Lantern's Clinical and Program Directors to integrate vocational and educational priorities into case management, and build a job culture among our clients to encourage and help them access services and support to navigate and mitigate barriers to employment, which include chronic homelessness, history of incarceration, mental illness and substance abuse.

The Director also works with the Senior Data and Evaluation Manager to identify, document and evaluate program outcomes and performance measures that can be utilized to refine and strengthen program quality and effectiveness.

The Director oversees a team of employment and education specialists and job developers in providing assessment, job readiness, placement and retention services for employment, apprenticeship and jobs. In addition, the Director will oversee the Children's Education Program that is responsible for TASC preparation and testing, vocational and collegiate programs, ESL and other educational options.

Program Management and Partnership Development

  • Based on best practices and evaluation of our existing services and outcomes, develop a comprehensive employment and education program to be implemented across all lantern buildings. This includes assessment tools, curricula and training, placement and retention guidelines, and another program
  • Conduct extensive outreach to potential employers in order to create and maintain internship, apprenticeship, and job
  • Oversee evidence-based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) supported employment program to assist clients with job placement.
  • Responsible for managing National External Diploma Program (NEDP) for adult basic education.
  • Establish partnerships with training providers and community partners and identify and provide opportunities with the greatest benefit for our client

Outcomes Performance and staff supervision

  • Hire, train, supervise and develop a program team with a strong sense of accountability for achieving outcomes for residents and complying with Lantern and funder regulations and requirements.
  • Ensure all case records (electronic and paper) are accurate, comprehensive, and UpToDate.
  • Stay current on best practices, field trends, and public benefit
  • Meet regularly with Clinical and Program Directors to facilitate the integration of employment and educational goals into the case
  • Set, track, and evaluate performance outcomes for clients and staff, including employer relationships, client engagement, goal progress, job placements, and retention and educational attainment.
  • Use data to review staff work plans and approaches and address training and program resource needs.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Responsible for managing Adult Career and Continuing Education Services Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) job placement services vendor contract to ensure compliance and accuracy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

  • Master's degree in a relevant
  • Five years of experience working with workforce/employment, educational, and training programs
  • Three years of supervisory experience
  • Keenjudgmentessentialforplanningandaccomplishinggoals,navigating challenging bureaucratic systems and motivating and supporting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of complex public benefits regulations.
  • Strong staff leadership and oversight skills.
  • Experience working with the chronically homeless population that has been impacted by mental illness, substance abuse, and limited work experience and educational
  • Experience with electronic case management systems and demonstrated ability to utilize and review data to inform best practices in service
  • Flexible, creative and solution-oriented
  • Demonstrated success in relationship
  • Willingness to travel throughout Metro

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, mental health, substance use, or chronically homelessness
  • Bilingual Spanish
