Lantern Community Services is seeking a Resident Coordinator for a supportive housing site in Manhattan. The Resident Coordinator is an integral member of the core services team, ensuring the integration of practices and policies to facilitate the stability and safety of programs/buildings to create a respectful and safe environment for all clients. The Resident Coordinator serves as front desk security for the building and adapts to the presenting needs of clients.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises reception desk security monitors and assists Program Director with viewing and saving needed videotape of incidents.
  • Oversees contracted security officers, if present, to ensure adherence to Post Orders and code of conduct; Reports issues to Program Director immediately.
  • Works directly with program staff to ensure the effective operation of the program and services consistent with applicable program policies and procedures, and ensures client needs are met on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitors and reviews daily security logs, including shift logbook, overnight guest logbook, and visitor logbook to ensure seamless communication and monitoring of program and clients, particularly regarding serious issues and vulnerable clients.
  • Check visitors in/out of the building and ensure adherence to visitor policy.
  • Responsible for documenting incidents, interventions, and issues that arise via case notes, incident reports, and any other agency-mandated protocol.
  • Assists with the organization and storage of incident reports, work orders, housing inspections, and grievances as directed by the Program Director.
  • Provides critical follow-up with tenants as directed by Program Director or requested by program staff in the event that tenants are not present at the site during the other staff's work hours.
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, manages the building response to medical, law enforcement, and other emergency situations.
  • Performs administrative tasks and other job-related functions, as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma/GED is required.
  • Previous experience working in the human services field with the onsite provision of social services.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to issues involved in working in a diverse organization.
  • Computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft suite and comfort working with databases.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
  • Security Experience a plus.

Preferred Experience

  • BA/BS Degree a plus.
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, mental health, substance use, or chronically homelessness population.
