Job Title: Human Resources Director

Reports to: Chief Financial & Administrative Officer

Status: Full-Time, Mon - Friday

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Job Location: Manhattan


OBJECTIVE:

The Human Resources Director (HRD) is responsible for the development and administration of the human resources function to support Lantern's strategy and its evolving people operations. A strategic partner to the Executive Team, the HRD will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations' mission and talent strategy.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organizations' goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations' human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and HR-related training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Help to define and champion an inclusive and rewarding culture that aligns with the values and mission of Lantern.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations' human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Cultivate and maintain a high-performing HR Team to support the HR function.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget.
  • Performs other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration, or similar discipline
  • Current SHRM or HRCI professional certification in Human Resources Management
  • At least 10 years of experience as HR Manager, generalist, or equivalent capacity
  • Demonstrated expertise in HR functional areas, HR Best practices, and leadership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Human Resources Director manages the HR Team consisting of an HR Manager, HR Associate, and a Recruitment Specialist.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Standard office setting on the 20th floor of an elevator building with open-concept floor plan with dedicated office space for the HR team and some other positions.

PHYSICAL DEMANS

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to stand, bend, reach and lift up to 15 pounds at times.
