Job Title: Human Resources Associate

Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Status: Full-time, Mon - Friday

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Location: Manhattan


JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Associate manages the administrative and clerical functions to support the HR office and optimize its services. A critical member of the Human Resources Team, the HR Associate closely partners with the Recruiting Specialist and HR Manager to ensure uninterrupted and efficient handling of various HR processes throughout the employment Lifecycle.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage all administrative and clerical functions of the HR office.
  • Develop and maintain complete and accurate employee records.
  • Lead on all new hire onboarding steps and manage new hire orientation.
  • Serve as point of contact for new hires, ensuring to appropriately and timely respond to inquiries, and expedite within HR or to management, as needed.
  • Manage and maintain agency-required training and credentialing compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR Manager to facilitate payroll processes.
  • Maintain accurate data in LCS' Justice Center portal.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment law, and best in class recruiting practices.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality of Human Resources and employee records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION & COMPETENCIES

  • Associate's degree in human resources management, business administration, or similar discipline.
  • 1-5 years of experience as an administrative or HR Assistant.
  • Working knowledge of general employment laws, including recordkeeping.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Standard office setting on the 20th floor of an elevator building with open-concept floor plan with dedicated office space for the HR team and some other positions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to stand, bend, reach and lift at least 10 pounds at times.
